Tip : Better Mileage out of the Dymo LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo

The Dymo LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo has a number of features that make it a unique label maker. The glaring difference between this model and the other LabelWriters is that it actually has 2 printheads in the same chassis, and that means it hold 2 rolls.

You can use 2 different label sizes in the Dymo Twin Turbo at the same time, or you can use 2 of the same roll. Some people use a number of different size labels, so they'll usually have their most commonly used roll in the left side, and change out the right roll when they want to change to a different size.

It's easy to switch between label rolls using the Dymo software, you just choose the left or right roll when you're about to print and the software does the rest. It is also easy to tell the software to switch between rolls when one roll runs out. That is, the software will automatically start printing on the other roll when one roll runs out. This automatic switching feature is called 'Use both rolls' - simple, and it's just a check box that is situated right in the middle of the label template screen in Dymo's software.

The 'use both rolls' feature is perfect for situation where you are printing a lot of the same size label, and you know you'll deplete at least one of the rolls. An example would be a mail merge. Say you had 400 labels to print and you had both sides of the printer loaded with Address Labels. Let's also assume that the left roll only has 100 labels remaining and the right roll is the full 350-count Dymo address label rolls. If you select the 'use both rolls' feature before you print your job, the Dymo software will start printing on the left roll, and when the labels on that roll are all used up, the printer will switch to the right roll and finish the job. That's called getting more mileage out of your Dymo LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo between label reloads.
